About the project
Between client projects, I always enjoyed developing new techniques. This personal project is a good example: the photorealistic visualisation of a mite — completely modeled, rigged and rendered in Cinema 4D with Octane Render.
The mite in the image is actually standing on a bath mat — not on animal fur. When I offered the image on stock agencies, it frequently appeared in advertising for tick repellent products for dogs. Funny, because ticks actually look quite different — but the image was indeed used for their products.
The project involved detailed modeling of the body with all legs and mouthparts, complete rigging for a natural pose, and the creation of realistic materials and macro lighting for the final scene.
